The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly already made an attempt to land Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant in a trade, and it sounds like they're gearing up to try again this offseason.

During Thursday's episode of Get Up, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported, "The Timberwolves tried to pull off a crazy trade at the deadline for KD, look for them to revisit those talks this summer."

Windhorst noted that Durant and Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards developed a "very tight connection" during their time together at the Paris Olympics as part of Team USA on the way to earning a gold medal. Edwards is one of the best young players in the NBA, so partnering with him could be appealing for Durant as his legendary career winds down.

Ironically, it was just a few days ago that the Timberwolves defeated the Suns in a 116-98 blowout on Sunday, prompting Durant to call out his team.

"We didn't play up to our standards at all," Durant said after the loss. "We embarrassed the fans and we embarrassed ourselves the way we played. I want us to be better."

The Suns entered the year with championship aspirations thanks to the talented trio of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. However, injuries and chemistry issues have plagued Phoenix throughout the year, and the team ranks 11th in the Western Conference with a 29-33 record.

The disappointing campaign has led many to believe that Durant will be on the move this summer. He will be turning 37 in September, so it can be expected that he will be looking to land with a contender.

The Timberwolves will have to find a way to acquire Durant without gutting its roster if it hopes to be an attractive destination for the two-time NBA champion.
