Tri-State Rodeo 2017 in Fort Madison, Iowa
Fort Madison, Iowa
Since 1948, the Fort Madison Rodeo, also known as the Iowa Tri-State Rodeo, has been delighting families from Missouri, Illinois and Iowa with its CINCH shootout and other events that are part of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) national circuit.
From September 6 to the 9, the Iowa Tri-State Rodeo will roar back into Fort Madison with all the PRCA action you can handle, from bareback riding to down roping and from barrel racing to bull riding. The Fort Madison Rodeo will be held at the C.E. Richards Arena located at 303rd Avenue, and the action will start with the CINCH shootout on Wednesday night. Following the CINCH shootout, ticket holders can head over to the Coors Party Pavilion for a musical performance by Rough Ryders.
On Thursday night, the Iowa Tri-State Rodeo PRCA events will be followed with a concert by country music star Cody Johnson, who will be preceded by the Rough Ryders. On Friday afternoon, the Fort Madison Rodeo will prepare for the School's Out Roundup with buses bringing students in from the Lincoln and Richardson school complexes. In the evening, rodeo fans will enjoy PRCA bull fighting followed by a special concert performance by Smash Mouth. This will also be the "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" sponsored by local station The Bull, 101.7 FM.
Aside from the CINCH shootout and rodeo excitement, families will also be able to enjoy the Grand Rodeo Parade on Saturday morning. This parade will include clowns, rope tricksters and beauty queens; John Pardi will perform after the final rodeo night at the Coors Party Pavilion, and the week will be capped off by a performance by the Rough Ryders.
Of special note will be the appearance of Justin Rumford during the Fort Madison Rodeo. In essence, Justin is a stand-up comedy expert who should have his own HBO special; however, he prefers to deliver his funny act under the floodlights of the rodeo arena. Making audiences laugh is only part of Justin's job; he is also a traditional rodeo clown who works the barrel, which means he protects bull riders when things get out of hand.
