Rodeo History
Started in 1923 by a group of volunteers, the Ellensburg Rodeo has grown in popularity each and every year. From an event a few volunteers thought would be a great idea, today's rodeo finds itself one of the most popular in the nation, with more than 600 competitors and over $400,000 in prize money.
Xtreme Bulls
After a long and grueling schedule, the Xtreme Bulls Tour Championship will be held during the Ellensburg Rodeo. With 40 of the world's top bull riders scheduled to compete for more than $100,000 in prize money, it's sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. And along with the top riders, this event features many of the circuit's meanest and toughest bulls. Weighing more than one ton, these four-legged athletes are sure to bring even more excitement to the event.
Charities
As with most rodeos, they are concerned not only with providing fans plenty of excitement, but also helping the local community. This holds true with the PRCA Ellensburg Rodeo, which has a long history of helping numerous charities. For this year's event, the Tough Enough To Wear Pink charity, focusing on eliminating breast cancer, will be a major beneficiary.
