Angola: Non-oil tax revenue increases 18 percent

Non-oil revenues reached AKz 898 billion in the first half of this year, there was an increase of 18 percent compared to the previous period of 2017.

The increase was attributed to the adoption of information technologies in the tax system launched in recent years.

With the introduction of the new technologies in 2014, 7124 industrial tax declarations were submitted, while in period ranging from January to August 2018 the number of declarations stood at 26,869, according to General Tax Administration Council (AGT) CEO, Sílvio Franco Burity.

The AGT official released the statistics at the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Tax Information Technologies.

The event brings together national and foreign experts, with stress to the forum of the African Tax Administrations and the Planning and Coordination services of the Tax and Customs Inspection of Portugal.

In view of the country's challenges, AGT intends to increasingly get connected to the digital world and, in the future, to evolve into a more electronic tax administration, where the submission of declarations, tax consultations, notifications, registration updates, requests for certificates and settlement of taxes is done via online.
