Why is Trump "preaching" normalisation and the "Abraham Accords" again?
What new information do we have? And what are the risks associated with that? And will it succeed?
President Donald Trump did not surprise us when he said in an interview with Fox Business on Friday that the Abraham Accords normalisation agreements were on the verge of a new expansion after the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, expressing his wishes for the "joining of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia" after contacts he made with Saudi and Indonesian officials.
We have heard President Trump's "wishes" multiple times during his first term and after he returned to power for a second time, just as we have also repeatedly heard the Saudi leadership's response: the establishment of a Palestinian state is a condition before any relations can be established with the occupying state. So, what is new? And is there any change in the Saudi position?
Saudi authorities have not yet responded to President Trump's aforementioned "wishes." Their Crown Prince's non-participation in the recent Sharm El-Sheikh summit and their Foreign Minister's absence from the signatories of the "peace document" reinforce the likelihood that their position remains unchanged. The signing was limited to the head of the host country (Egypt), alongside President Trump and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Egyptian and Turkish countries maintain normal relations with the occupying state.
President Trump, as a reminder, refuses to recognise the two-state solution and strongly opposes the conference sponsored by both Saudi Arabia and France in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, at which nearly 150 countries acknowledge this solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Moreover, Trump attempted to sabotage it.
The visit that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia is supposed to make to Washington next November might answer many questions in this regard through the discussions that will take place between the Saudi and American sides and the potential agreements and treaties, especially in light of the rumours about the possibility of the two sides signing a joint defence agreement similar to the Qatari one, which affirmed that any attack on Qatar is an attack on the United States.
In his speech delivered in the Knesset, President Trump made sure to praise Miriam Adelson, a Zionist billionaire and the wife and heir of Sheldon Adelson, who is known for her unwavering support of the occupying state and uses her billions as a tool to exert pressure in its service. If her late husband, Sheldon Adelson, bought Trump by donating $100 million to his campaign during his first presidency in exchange for recognising Jerusalem as the capital of the occupying state and moving the American embassy there,
In addition to the annexation of the Golan Heights, his wife, Miriam, who quadrupled this amount, may have extracted a pledge from him to support the Israeli genocide in Gaza and to maintain unconditional support for Israel in its plans for the region, including using American influence to expand the circle of normalisation and the joining of new Arab and Islamic countries to what is called the "Abraham Accords".
Expanding the circle of normalising the "Abraham Accords" and including Arab and Islamic countries in them is, in our opinion, a "reward" for Netanyahu for the massacres he committed in the Gaza Strip within the framework of the genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing war that has so far led to the martyrdom of 70,000 Palestinians and the injury of 250,000 others, a significant number of whom are children. Additionally, 95% of the homes, towers, and buildings in the Strip have been destroyed during 24 months of aggression, and Netanyahu has received a certificate of absolution for all these massacres simply for agreeing to a ceasefire and accepting Trump's 20-point plan, of which only the first phase—namely, the release of living and deceased Israeli prisoners—has been implemented.
The war is not over, and the occupying forces are still present in almost half of the Gaza Strip. They have violated this agreement more than 50 times so far, and the count continues, possibly reaching over 5,000 masked men, similar to what happened in Lebanon.
We hope that we, as Arabs and Muslims, do not fall into the second phase of the American trap, which involves expanding normalisation and rewarding Netanyahu. The resistance is still strong, firmly present above and below the ground (the tunnels), and it will not abandon its weapons, whether through negotiations or force. Netanyahu has not achieved any of his goals, which include destroying Hamas and its military capabilities, evacuating the sector's residents to fully reoccupy it, stealing its "gas" wealth, and transforming it into a Middle Eastern "Riviera" that generates hundreds of billions for Zionist real estate brokers, including the biggest broker, Trump, his son-in-law Kushner, and his associate Steve Witkoff, as well as the war criminal Tony Blair.
Exercising caution and rejecting normalisation is the wisest course of action. We must remember that Trump will not last long, with only one year left before the midterm elections (November 2026), in which he will be defeated, and his party will lose its majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, according to opinion polls that confirm a decline in his and his party's popularity by more than 30 percent, one of the main reasons being his support for the entity and the war of extermination.
