Camilla Broke Silence Over Prince Charles' Coronavirus Diagnosis, Thought Of Abused Women Instead

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, finally broke her silence after Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19. The future queen consort didn't think of herself but of women who have to isolate themselves at home with an abusive partner. Amid the health problem the Cornwalls are facing, she urged abused women to seek help when needed.

In Clarence House's Twitter account, the 72-year-old royal said in a lengthy post that the coronavirus outbreak is indeed a "hard time for everyone," as everyone needed to stay safe at home. However, home is not a safe place for all of the women out there, and it is even harder for those who have an abusive partner to stay with.

"I can only imagine that being asked to stay there could feel very isolating and frightening for you and your family," she said. "It may mean spending more time with the person who is harming you."

If this is the case or someone you know is in this situation, Camilla assured that they are not alone. If they can't leave their home due to the pandemic, they can call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline or the domestic violence charities. They can also phone 999 and ask for police assistance whenever they feel imminent danger, asking everyone to stay safe and get help if needed.

Meanwhile, the world seemed to be surprised when it learned that Prince Charles tested positive for coronavirus. However, royal fans don't have to worry as a palace source told Town & Country that the Prince of Wales remains in "good spirits" despite the diagnosis and experiencing mild symptoms. It is also improbable that his illness will never "escalate into a more serious case."

As Camilla tested negative for the COVID-19, it is quite understandable that she is concerned for her husband. However, she remains upbeat, showing a brave face. They are now both following the guidelines to isolate separately for seven days.

Prince Charles and Camilla are both at Birkhall, their home in Balmoral. They have been staying at Queen Elizabeth II's residence in Scotland since March 22, following the Government's advice to self-isolate.

The two were both tested by the NHS in Aberdeenshire while they were staying at Birkhall after Prince Charles started experiencing mild symptoms. Although there are issues that there is a shortage of coronavirus test kits in the U.K., the NHS Scotland website notes that people will only be tested for COVID-19 if they have a serious illness that requires admission to the hospital. Clarence House clears that the heir to the throne and Camilla both met the criteria required to have the test.
