There is not one thing to eliminate and suddenly your life will be longer. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it! However, if I had to pick one thing I would say do your best to eliminate stress in your life whenever possible.

Living longer is about living a healthy lifestyle and this affects many areas of our lives. Many factors affect one’s health and by paying attention to as many aspects as possible can help a person live longer. A long life is about holistic health across many areas of your life for as long as possible.

1. Financial Health - One major factor about health is being able to afford basic needs like food, shelter, health care, and other aspects that improve quality of life. Creating savings at an early age and planning for retirement is an essential aspect to assuring that you stay financially healthy to eliminate financial stressors (which can be some of the most burdensome).

2. Developmental Health - In order to thrive we need to keep developing our skills be those around lifelong learning, understanding the latest technology or keeping up with the latest jobs. Assuring that you feel a strong sense of purpose and self-development are essential to health and wellness. Plus larning more skills and tools help you often in the long run to reduce stress since you have more tools in your toolbelt to deal with diverse factors.

3. Physical and Mental Health - It’s essential to make sure you are staying physically healthy by exercising and eating healthily. Both of these help as stress reducers and help assure that you can better manage when stress does enter your life. Plus it’s essential to assure you are taking care of your mental health through mindfulness practices, meditation, or therapy based on your personal needs. Assuring that you can physically and mentally manage stress or eliminate it is one of the best keys to living longer.

4. Social and Community Health - People who have strong support systems and feel a part of a community often can help rely on others when times get tough. This can reduce a lot of stress. It’s important to build and maintain communities with friends, family, and with people who share similar interests. Communities and socialization help assure your overall health and wellness.

5. Spacial Health - Part of holistic health is about being in a safe environment that fosters grow and were you feel secure. This means a home that you feel well in and without toxic people as regular factors in your life. This assures you don’t add stress that can be detrimental to one’s health.

When any of these factors are not optimized, or produce added stress, they directly affect a person’s health and wellness.
