Mozambique: foreign company invests US$70M restarting Namacurra rice factory

The Namacurra rice factory, which has stood idle for more than a year, will soon resume operations. According to the provincial government a foreign-funded company will invest US$70 million refurbishing the infrastructure and purchasing raw materials.

A fire in the Namacurra rice processing plant more than a year ago paralysed activities, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, according to the provincial director of Industry and Commerce of Zambézia, Momad Juízo.

Cassava Roads, a private foreign company, is looking into taking over the plant, which has the capacity to process 150 tons of rice per day.
