Tiziana Rocca presents Filming Italy Sardegna

Tiziana Rocca presented Filming Italy Sardegna, which will have international guests.

In the Sala Caduti di Nassirya of the Senate of the Italian Republic, Tiziana Rocca presented the seventh edition of Filming Italy Sardegna, which will take place from June 20 to 23, 2024 at Forte Village in Cagliari. The Festival has become a reference point for the promotion of audiovisual products", confirms Rocca, "and for many young students who have approached the world of the seventh art full of hope and curiosity".

The Honorary President of the Festival will be actress Brie Larson, Oscar winner for her performance in the film "Room" and winner of Golden Globe, BAFTA, Critics' Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. The jury president for our short film will be Paz Vega, "an international actress who has truly made a name for herself around the world for her great artistry. Our godmother, on the other hand, will be all-Italian, the very talented Ambra Angiolini, one of the most gifted actresses of her generation. American actress and singer Bella Thorne will receive the Filming Italy International Award for her directorial debut, the short film Paint Her Red, which will be screened during the Festival. Claudia Gerini and Harvey Keitel, two great actors of film, television and theater, will play the role of "Ambassadors of the Festival".

Tiziana Rocca and the direction of the festival. Tiziana Rocca is one of the few film festival directors in the world. She founded Filming Italy Los Angeles and Filming Italy Speciale Venezia. "The road is definitely uphill, because even though I've been doing this for so many years, for more than 10 years in Italy - 6 years of the Taormina Film Festival, 7 years of Filming Italy Sardegna, and 10 years of Filming Italy Los Angeles - I've always tried to support women in the film world within my festivals. Filming Italy Sardegna is also characterized by strong choices on social issues: "It's a plastic-free festival, where all the materials used are mostly recycled. We also show films to young people that encourage respect for the environment". For Rocca, "a woman has to work twice as hard to prove herself, this is a rule in all professions, so you need a lot of determination, a lot of tenacity, a lot of willpower. There is a need for many more female directors who tell beautiful and interesting stories and put the figure of the woman in the spotlight. So we hope that many women will choose more women. I think this is the most important thing: to create more synergy and to be more complicit.
