Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Financial Needs Should Not be Covered By U.K. Taxpayers After Abandoning Royal Family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making a fresh start in the US after they officially stepped down as senior royals at the end of March. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently living in Los Angeles with their son Archie, where they are expected to stay for the foreseeable future.

Now, a report revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should fund themselves after they decide to abandon the Royal Family. The Republic's CEO Graham Smith, which is a British republican pressure group, firmly suggested that UK taxpayers should not cover the financial needs of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, whether they are in living the UK or staying in the US.

"We should not be funding Meghan and Harry at all whether they are abroad or here. Certainly, now that they have abandoned any pretense of doing official engagements or giving anything back to the taxpayer, we have no reason to fund them at all. They are very wealthy, their estimated combined wealth is more than £30million,” he said.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed in their withdrawal announcement that they wished to be “financially independent.” Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer get any funding from the Firm after their official step down, Graham Smith said that the pair should find sources of income to pay for their lavish lifestyle.

Graham Smith pointed out that the U.K. doesn’t owe Meghan Markle and Prince Harry a penny. He also rejected the Duchess of Sussex’s claim that her royal wedding provided an economic boost for Britain.

The Republic's CEO believes that it’s actually the other way around. He said that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s 2018 wedding was a "net-loss" for UK taxpayers.

Aside from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Graham Smith, also, told Prince William and Kate Middleton to earn their own income. He said that the U.K. doesn’t owe the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge anything.

Graham Smith even suggested that Queen Elizabeth should be on an annual salary, just like the Prime Minister. The organization’s CEO noted that the Royals spend an outrageous amount of money because they “have a deep-seated sense of entitlement.”

It was previously, reported, that Queen Elizabeth does not have a budget despite her “eye-watering” bills. Her Majesty is not only known for her bright wardrobes, but she also owns multiple expensive royal residences.
