At this time of the year, many of us start to feel a little blue and long for the warmer days of Spring to hurry up and arrive. It has to do with the cooler temperatures, increased isolation, and the fact that we are getting outdoors less.

Don’t despair! Luckily, there are a few things that you can do to fight the Winter blues.

Treat yourself. Because you are cooped up more, you probably feel sort of sluggish and are likely neglecting your selfcare while being stuck at home. Why not pamper yourself by scheduling a spa day, massage, or some other type of treat? You deserve it.

Get some exercise. Sometimes you just need to get out there and get your body moving, particuarly if you find yourself lying on the couch and lounging around more often. Go for a run, take a yoga class, or embark on a hike. Whatever you enjoy that will up both your fitness level and your endorphins (as well as your mood in the process).

Grab a few rays. There’s nothing like soaking up some Vitamin D to increase your mood, not to mention the positive effects of breathing in that fresh air. Make sure to engage in outdoor activities regularly despite the cooler temps.

Spend time with friends. We tend to pencil in more social activities and time having fun during the Spring and Summer months. Make up for that lack of social time by scheduling a few enjoyable outings with friends.

Take a trip. You can’t make the sun and warm weather come to you, but you can go to it. Take a vacation or mini-vacation somewhere nice to lift your spirits and give yourself a change of scenery to blast those winter blues.
