Why did Trump reverse his threats and deadlines to destroy Iran?
How did Iran catch him in this trap?
After repeatedly threatening to launch a devastating strike on all Iranian energy facilities and allowing Iran only 48 hours to open the Strait of Hormuz to oil ships, the American president shamefully backpedalled just hours before the deadline. He rationalised his withdrawal by claiming that "good and fruitful talks" had taken place with Iran, and he thus directed that the strikes cease immediately. The semi-official Iranian news source "Tasnim" reported that a high-ranking Iranian official who chose to remain anonymous denied any conversations with the US. The Iranian leadership's statement to the numerous mediators confirms that "Iran will continue to defend its territory until the necessary deterrence is achieved." It characterises Trump's threats as part of "a psychological war."The true reasons for Trump's heinous step, which reflect the madness and collapse he has experienced since the attack against Iran began, can be summarised as follows:• First, this withdrawal, which occurred less than 48 hours after issuing the ultimatum, was expected. The American president has learned nothing from his "mentor," Netanyahu, who has ensnared him in this war against Iran and, before him, supported the genocide in Gaza except to lie, deceive, and exploit the media to pass it.• Second, in reaction to these threats, Iran promised to retaliate by targeting all energy plants and infrastructure in Israel and the Gulf Arab governments associated with the United States government.• Third, the bombardment of oil installations and refineries with several missiles three days ago was the response's first practical field implementation. It was followed by another retaliation to the American assault against the Iranian Natanz nuclear plant, which involved destroying two Israeli cities with two massive hypersonic ballistic missiles, each weighing more than a tonne. The first city was Dimona, which contains Israel's nuclear reactor, and the second was Arad, where the plant's personnel and experts dwell.Fourth, Gulf countries have put enormous pressure on Trump to withdraw this threat immediately, as their oil and gas facilities and desalination plants would be a clear and easy target for any Iranian retaliatory response due to their geographical proximity, and retaliatory operations against American bases on their territories have not stopped since the beginning of the war.Fifth, Trump has not left his surroundings as a businessman and real estate broker, and he has confirmed his commitment to his colleagues, sons, and sons-in-law, all of whom live off brokering and profit-making by whatever means necessary, accumulating millions and billions of dollars in bank accounts. These threats have increased oil prices by more than $20 and petrol prices by 30%. They have undoubtedly generated substantial profits, possibly in collaboration with him and as a result of their speculations.Sixth, the war has passed its 25th day without the aggressor achieving any of its objectives of ousting and destabilising the Iranian regime, forcing it to reverse its decision to control passage in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 21 million barrels of oil flow daily. This closure solely affects the Western world and its economy, as well as the Gulf oil and gas countries aligned with Washington, the majority of which have not exported a single barrel since the conflict began.• Seventh: President Trump's philosophy of peace through strength has failed spectacularly and had the opposite impact. To date, two American aircraft carriers have been damaged: the first, Abraham Lincoln, was hit by a ballistic missile, and the second, Gerald Ford, was attacked by another missile, causing a fire and forcing its retreat to the Greek island of Crete for repairs. The bogus explanation supplied was that the fire broke out in the laundry section on its deck, a rationale that even the most foolish people, such as their leader, Trump, would not accept. They sought a short war with a quick and tidy win, whereas Iran desired a lengthy, exhausting regional war, and it gained a major triumph and the upper hand, at least for now. The aggressors' losses, particularly those of Israelis and Americans, are now projected to be in the billions of dollars every day, and the extent of destruction seen in photographs from Greater Tel Aviv, Haifa, and eventually Dimona and Arad is the most visible confirmation of what we say. More ominously, the moral setback is compounded by the fact that over 7 million Israeli settlers have been living in shelters and tunnels day and night over the past 24 days of the onslaught.Curiously, the arrogant and dumb Trump found no one to laud but "Israel" for supporting him in this war after NATO and all European countries, his traditional allies and partners in all past wars, failed him.It would be advantageous to remind Trump at the end of this article that Israel supported him because he is fighting its war, not America's or the Western world's, and that it is Israeli leadership that has embroiled him in this aggression.Trump has lost his war, credibility, and most allies, as well as his country's global prestige. The only thing he has achieved is the approval of "Israel," or more specifically, its far-right extremist terrorist government. Congratulations to him on this outstanding achievement. We are now waiting for his next threat, as well as his disgusting retraction, and we won't have long to wait.
