Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Used As Bait In Bitcoin Scam

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being used as bait in an ongoing bitcoin scam to lure unsuspecting investors. A fake news is spreading online which detailed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex apparently had a BBC interview where they talked about the trading scheme.

According to Daily Mirror, the bitcoin news supposedly had Prince Harry and Meghan saying on television that the investment scheme transformed them into millionaires "within three to four months." The royals apparently credited Bitcoin Evolution for their growing fortune.

But a link in the marketing material will apparently redirect readers to the scammer's website, where there is a clock counting down the registration's close. Daily Mirror explained that this is a strategy to lure people into the scam. It's also questionable if members of the site earned their first million in just two months, as it claimed.

The site also uses the names of chef Gordon Ramsay and sports superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in its marketing scheme. Daily Mirror, however, cautioned that the company has no phone number, address and other registration details on record.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not yet commented on the matter. Prince Harry and Meghan are now based in Los Angeles and they are still observing the quarantine guidelines due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The pair has yet to kick off their next venture and has not gone on actual face-to-face meetings since this is currently discouraged. The couple is also facing much scrutiny for announcing the name of their upcoming foundation, Archewell, amid a global crisis.

Critics said that Prince Harry and Meghan's announcement of Archewell came at a time when the U.K. prime minister was admitted to the ICU after suffering from COVID-19 symptoms. It was also timed as Queen Elizabeth addressed the nation on television to assure the public that, in due time, things will be back to normal.

Prince Harry and Meghan said in a statement to The Telegraph that they had to reveal the name since Archewell's records are already in public. The Sussexes wanted to make sure that the announcement came from them.

Since revealing Archewell, trolls have gunned for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by redirecting ArchewellFoundation.Com to a link of a Kanye West video on YouTube, titled "Gold Digger." According to Fox, the link has since been taken down but royal fans think Prince Harry and Meghan made the mistake of not registering the website's name as their account.
