The 30-mile highway through Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California is now open for the season. That said, park visitors should prepare for winter conditions at higher elevations and possible delays due to ongoing road work.

In other areas of the park, the road to Butte Lake is open, Warner Valley Road may open to the Warner Campground pending a final roads assessment, and Juniper Lake Road is currently closed due to seasonal snowpack, further road assessment, and repairs.

Trails in the higher-elevation areas of the park remain snow-covered. This includes, but is not limited to, Lassen Peak and Brokeoff Mountain. Bumpass Hell Trail remains under seasonal closure due to snow and ice.

The Manzanita Lake Campground, cabins, and Camper Store are open with the historic showers, restroom, and laundry structure adjacent to the camper store scheduled to open in July after repairs from tree damage over the winter. Butte Lake Campground is also open and the Butte Lake stock corral is scheduled to open on June 28. Reservations for the corral need to be made on Recreation.gov.

Lost Creek Campground is open, and Summit Lake North campground is scheduled to open June 28 pending hazard tree removal. Summit Lake South campground reservations have been cancelled until July 6 due to hazard tree removal. The Southwest Walk-in Campground is closed for the 2024 season due to post-Dixie Fire hazards. Camping in self-contained vehicles is permitted in the Southwest Area parking area with a camping fee.

Warner Valley Campground will remain closed this year for further recovery from the 2021 Dixie Fire. On-going conditions and hazards assessments post-Dixie Fire will determine whether Juniper Lake Campground can open this season. Drakesbad Guest Ranch in Warner Valley will also remain closed for the entire 2024 season due to ongoing Dixie Fire recovery.
