Working with the student council from Tippecanoe Valley, the Whitko Student Council is sponsoring a Toys for Tots Drive. The event began on December 1st when Student Council members raffled off baked goods at the North Miami vs Whitko girls' basketball game.
This week, Student Council is selling donuts each morning before school (December 10-14). Proceeds from these activities will be used to purchase toys. Student Council members at Tippecanoe Valley are also fund raising throughout the week.
The Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko boys' basketball teams will battle one another Friday, December 14 at Tippecanoe Valley. In exchange for regular admission to the game Friday, fans can donate a toy. Saturday evening, December 15, Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko girls play one another at Whitko. Admission to this game is also waived if a toy is donated.
"On behalf of Whitko and our Student Council, we want to thank the administration of both schools for working with us in generously allowing us to collect toys at the gate for the games," said Whitko Co- Student Council adviser Dr. Rick Bragg. "What has impressed all of us involved is the level of participation from Student Council members at both schools as well as the fact that we are not competing with Tippecanoe Valley to see who can bring in the most toys, cooperatively, the two schools are working hand in hand for a very good cause. We hope the Whitko Nation will support our boys' team this Friday at Tippecanoe Valley while at the same time donating a toy, and on Saturday, we would love to see everyone come to the girls' game at Whitko and donate again."
