According to The Sun, Prince William and Kate left Sandringham on Boxing Day to travel to the Middleton's home, where Kate's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, have been waiting for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The joyous occasion was also marked by Kate's brother James's engagement to Alize Thevenet, while Kate's younger sister Pippa was also there to celebrate the New Year with her husband and family.
Apart from the ski trip, however, Prince William and Kate also joined the Middletons for a New Year's party at their sprawling family home. According to Express, the Middletons are known for their fun New Year's celebrations.
During one New Year's celebration, Pippa organized a teepee party at the family garden that accommodated 100 people. They also had a Winter Wonderland theme party one time with a colorful dance floor to match.
The Middleton's New Year's Party is reportedly a chance for Prince William and Kate to let their hair down after spending Christmas in Sandringham. In the documentary "Sandringham: The Queen at Christmas," royal biographer Ingrid Seward said that Kate was apparently "terrified" of her first holiday party with the royals because she was worried about making a faux pas.
Meanwhile, the rest of the royals also had their own New Year's celebrations as Queen Elizabeth remains Sandringham until the first week of February. Joined by Prince Philip, who is recovering from his hospitalization, the Queen usually goes back to Buckingham after commemorating her father's death anniversary.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, on the other hand, usually travel for New Year. It's unclear if they remained in Canada this time around or went to another holiday destination as their six-week break is winding down.
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, usually travel to the Scottish Highlands after Christmas. Prince Edward and Sophie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, were seen in Australia for New Year's Day.
The Yorks, on the other hand, usually visit their Swiss ski lodge for the holidays. However, sources said Prince Andrew will not be joining Sarah, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie and their respective partners this year. The Duke of York is reportedly lying low from the family celebrations.
