Queen Elizabeth II Allegedly Told Prince Harry Meghan Markle 'Would Get What She's Given': Report

Queen Elizabeth II's alleged rift with Prince Harry reportedly started on the run-up to his wedding to Meghan Markle. But, it was not only the Duke of Sussex Her Majesty had an altercation with, as she also had a dressing-down with the Duchess of Sussex. As Prince Harry allegedly said, "what Meghan wants, Meghan gets," the Queen told him that "she gets what she's given."

Queen Elizabeth's relationship with the Sussexes reportedly started to fall apart even before they dropped their bombshell announcement in January. In fact, there were reports that there were misunderstandings between the two parties after their wedding in May 2018.

Allegedly, the leader of the Commonwealth scolded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle because of their behavior. A royal insider told The Sun in 2018 that the former actress wanted to wear a tiara with emeralds on her wedding day. However, her then-soon-to-be husband reportedly got mad when the staff told them that it was impossible to get it as it might come all the way from Russia.

According to Express, the tiara that Meghan Markle wanted was the Vladimir Kokoshnik, an elegant piece that moves when the wearer tilts her head because of the seven pendant emeralds it has. However, royal brides are only allowed to wear tiaras that have diamonds instead of colored jewels. The colored ones are reportedly only worn by royals who have shown their dedication to the crown through their years of service and not the non-royals who will only join the firm on their wedding day.

The insider continued to reveal that Meghan Markle's request resulted in a "very heated exchange" that Queen Elizabeth had to intervene and talk to Prince Harry. At the time, the sixth in line to the throne allegedly told royal insiders that "what Meghan wants, Meghan gets."

However, in a report from Vanity Fair, royal commentator Katie Nicholl said Queen Elizabeth told her grandson that his then-fiancé couldn't get whatever she wanted. "She gets what tiara she's given by me," Her Royal Highness added.

Queen Elizabeth also questioned why Meghan Markle asked for a veil for the ceremony, as she already got married before. Anyhow, the former Suits star still donned a five-meter veil on her wedding day but wore a diamond and platinum tiara instead. The source explained that the Queen seemed to let Prince Harry's wife see that she needed to think about how she spoke to the royal household and to follow the royal family protocols.
