Many of us have returned back to work after the holidays even more exhausted than when we left for vacation. It’s no wonder. It’s likely that we tried to pack in too many activities in too short a period of time. As the pace of our world continues to speed up, we need to become even more mindful about self-care to live out our best lives.
Here are a few ways that we can make self-care a priority in 2023:
Come up with a solid sleep routine. There is no better gift you can give yourself than getting 6–8 hours of sleep each night. You’ll be happier, healthier and more productive if you do.
Indentify your favorite self-care activities. Figure out which self care indulgences you most enjoy- is it getting your hair or nails done, going for a weekly massage, hiking, or something else? Whatever it is, make it a priority in your life this year.
Pencil it in. Chances are that if we don’t put it on our calendars, we won’t make it happen. Embed your self-care activities into your schedule to ensure that you are getting in what you need.
Eat, drink, and be merry. Eat healthy foods, drink lots of water, and find time for fun. Your body (and soul) will thank you for it.
Plan vacations. Time away is critical in terms of taking care of yourself. As such, schedule out your vacations for the rest of the year right now, and reap the benefits in the future.
Take some time for you. Don’t forget that all important alone time. Everyone needs some solo time to just think, relax and learn to love themselves.
Feed your mind. In addition to taking care of your body, ensure that you are feeding yourself intellectually and spiritually too.
Make yourself a priority. Taking care of yourself should always be your number one priority so set reminders and make it happen this year!
