As far as I am concerned, Orcas Island is one of the most beautiful islands to visit in Washington State! The natural beauty here with the colors of the Madrona trees, the sparkle of the water and the abundant wildlife are absolutely spectacular and a pure joy to witness. Orcas Island is abundant with pottery shops, artisan shops, music in the park, theater, kayaking, hiking, whale watching, boating, fishing, swimming and water all around. It’s the best island and most magical!
Forest House is nestled in the woods with views of the water through the trees…it is very quiet and peaceful! It was custom built with much tender loving care by Sunray Kelly, an alternative northwest designer/builder. The house was built with mostly natural materials and a low impact on the environment. Tons of love is put into it between travelers. We truly hope you enjoy yourself thoroughly!!
The house has many unique features like: a sunken round soaking tub, propane fireplace, cathedral-like windows and doors, 10- and 12-sided rooms with curved walls and beautiful wood throughout. Three decks with many different places to sit and contemplate.
You enter into a 12-sided living room with lots of windows and views of the water, trees and sky. In this room is the main bed which is a very comfortable pillow top QUEEN BED. Walk down the hallway to the toilet room, tub room and a galley kitchen which was built by Faeries themselves…well not exactly but almost. The counter tops were built with live edge spalted alder and cherry wood. Copper sink, range, refrigerator and all the kitchen necessities for cooking a meal.

On Orcas; enjoy hiking (nearby Moran State Park has over 35 miles of trails) and the beaches & the south entrance of Turtleback mountain. Rent or launch your kayak or canoe from beaches or the lakes, swim in two amazing lakes or if you dare, the sound, great fishing and eating. Eastsound has many unique shops, outdoor concerts in the summer, farmers market and an excellent performing arts center. Check out the Chamber of Commerce website for weekly happenings. There are many wonderful restaurants and pottery shops as well as a golf course.
