In early cloud days, people assumed cloud was less safe than in-house data centers, then the perception sort of reversed with people seeing cloud as safer than in-house. But now after some high-profile public cloud security breaches the question is more like: “Is the cloud still really safe for my work?”

And the answer is yes, provided the customer and cloud provider set out shared responsibilities early and rigorously adhere to best practices, using automation as much as possible to take the load off stretched personnel.

Again companies have to make sure they update and patch their technology. And the cloud provider should make its infrastructure as foolproof as possible and make it difficult for customers to deploy workloads in an insecure manner.
