Yes, there’s a major opportunity for a career in photography. I think it’s really important to know what type of photographer you would like to become. There are various fields such as wedding, portrait, commercial, sports and so many more.

Photographs are only becoming more and more important in the digital age as we have a need to document our daily lives. Social media and the smart phone revolution has positioned the photographer in a great position compared to past generations where you only hired a photographer for your mothers 50th birthday or other one time events.

Career wise there are many brands and corporations who would love to hire a full time staff, part time or contact photographer depending on the service. From experience I know a lot of these positions start at an average of $50,000 a year with full benefits and you can always freelance work as well which can bring in an additional $15–20k a year if you're organized enough with it.
